If you’ve ever felt like you’re putting your offers out there (selling your services, posting on social media, etc), but the response is a deafening silence, you’re not alone. Today, I’m going to open up about an epiphany I had about marketing. I’m sharing one common marketing mistake that could be holding you back, and tips for marketing online for you to try.
So, let’s get real. I’ve been there working so hard on those perfect posts, spreading the word on Instagram, pinning ideas on Pinterest, only to check my sales and find a big fat zero.
It’s discouraging, and it makes you question whether your business will ever be sustainable.
Here’s the realization: I was marketing online the wrong way.
I was pouring all my efforts into creating fantastic content but was leading potential clients directly to my high-ticket offer, my premium design services.
The problem is that when you are leading people directly to your high ticket service, this is only catering to your hot leads.
Hot leads are the 20% of people who are ready to make a purchase right then and there.
The problem lies in neglecting the other 80%, who are either warm or cold leads. By fixating on that smaller hot lead percentage, we’re slowing down our sales.
Here are some tips for marketing online that you can use starting now.
We need a shift in focus, a strategic pivot towards those warm leads. It’s time to nurture and entice them with a different approach.
Think of it this way: If someone asked you to move in on the first date or a cashier urged you to swipe your card for a $2,000 flat-screen TV as soon as you entered a store, it would be a bit off-putting, right?
The same happens in our business when leading potential clients straight to our high-ticket offer without warming them up first. It leaves a bad taste and could drive them away.
The key is taking it slow, offering something free, less risky, but high in value. Just like a first date, we want to build trust before diving into a huge commitment. The focus should be on those warm leads, eventually guiding them towards the high-ticket offer.
Trust me, this is a game changer.
Now, creating a killer free offer isn’t a cookie cutter easy task. It requires a deep TRUE understanding of your potential clients. What are their struggles? What can you offer them for a quick win?
You’re going to really know who they are, know what their needs are, and then you can create a freebie with something of immense value for them.
Creating this type of free offer gets you a list of WARM leads. Since they signed up for your freebie, you know they’re interested in what you have to offer. You’ll know that they have a problem that you can solve.
When they sign up for your freebie, they should have to enter contact information such as their email. With this contact information you can continue to lead them to more offers that you have and eventually get them to work with you!
When considering these tips for marketing online, the goal is to warm them up with something they’ve been really really needing, gain their trust, and then seamlessly guide them toward your high-ticket offer (this is called a marketing funnel).
It’s a strategic approach that has the potential to really change the game in your business. Not only this, but it helps save you valuable time when it comes to marketing and gaining clients.
Have you found yourself making this marketing mistake? I’ve been there, and it’s okay. The key is recognizing it and making a conscious effort to grow from this mistake.
